For managers of medium and large organizations it is a challenge to overcome critical business situations and/or run internal projects successfully without external support. Internal staff is often focused on operative tasks and therefore simply too busy to contribute to special projects with the required intensity. External consultants on the other hand offer an independent view on internal structures and can dedicate to the project with full power. As a result, this spares the manager’s internal resources to ensure operations are running smoothly.

During my time as a management consultant I have contributed in consulting and supporting relevant projects for my clients’ management. Among others, my expertise lays in the following fields

Initial situation: 

Client faced threatening business situation and needed support to push critical projects to success

 

Task:

  • Setting up & running a clear & transparent PMO for the client’s CEO & management team
  • Set up of semi-automatic PMO tool to enable efficient data consolidation and PMO processes
  • Running weekly PMO process to create transparency on critical topics for the client’s management
  • Ad-hoc analyses to support the client’s CEO in major business decisions

Outcome:

Client gained transparency on critical projects to turnaround the company

 

Client & Industry: 

Automotive

 

Initial situation: 

Client was executing a re-organization in a department of ~20.000 employees and needed support in demonstrating the successful implementation of the defined concept

 

Task:

  • Running a PMO for an implementation sprint of 6 months
  • Tracking implementation plans for >30 initiatives across various functions
  • Creation of a communication plan in close collaboration with the client’s communication team to highlight the implementation activity in the organization

Outcome:

  • Client was able to demonstrate that the defined reorganization concept was successfully starting to get traction during the first 6 months of implementation
  • Department’s CEO and transformation office with transparent insights into the implementation’s progress at any given time throughout the project

Initial situation: 

Client needed consultant support for reducing their indirect purchasing spend

 

Task:

  • Analysing the client’s spend cube to define focus areas of cost down analysis
  • Close collaboration with the client’s team to challenge the status quo and to find optimization levers for the different purchasing areas (e.g. car pool, marketing expenditures, property expenditures). Optimization levers could be categorized into “buy cheaper”, “buy better”, “buy less”.
  • Quantifying the savings effect for each optimization lever
  • Development of high level implementation plan as guidance for client team to reach savings target

Outcome:

  • A savings target of ~5{a1e87a1b60fb18245882eac76358661b7920a2b633d6ae5d1a0ed67a2c50264d} could be defined
  • The client was equipped with a detailed analyses and an implementation plan to work on reaching savings targets

Initial situation: 

Client asks for support in reducing indirect purchasing spend for international subsidiary

 

Task:

  • Working together with the client to identify, quantify and implement cost saving measures with focus on „buy cheaper“
  • Creating several RFQs used to gather pricing offers from suppliers for different working groups
  • Developing an Excel-based tool to compare and evaluate the received pricing offers from suppliers in order to facilitate the client’s selection process

Outcome:

Client gained transparency on savings potential and was well equipped for supplier negotiations

Initial situation: 

Client was running Marketing campaigns with Google Ads. However, optimization potential was discovered with regards to the adaption of new marketing technologies such as Machine Learning

 

Task:

  • Introducing Google’s understanding of Machine Learning and how to integrate this technology in the marketing environment
  • Execution of workshop to educate client on best-practice Audience & Automation strategy
  • Implementation support after the workshop to ensure that the discussed content was set up correctly

Outcome:

Increase in client’s revenue through marketing automation as well as a best practices setup for the client’s audience & bidding strategy
